Guesthouse Husky
Guesthouse Husky is a small family-owned company which was set up year 2010. It is located about 5km outside the Ivalo village and about 15 km from Ivalo airport. In the beginning of year 2011 they will open a newly built guesthouse which is located in the same courtyard where the owner family (father, mother and three sons) is living. Just beside the guesthouse lies also a Alaskan husky farm with about 150 sled dogs.
Guesthouse Husky offers cozy accommodation, Finnish-Lappish homemade food and personal service in unique environment. This special location gives the guests an opportunity to learn about the life of a Lappish family and to participate in taking care of the huskies. In addition to this one can also learn how all the equipment needed in mushing, for example sledges and harnesses, are made.
In winter the company offers husky safaris of different length either starting from the farm to the neighbourhood surroundings or to a wilderness cabin on Inari lake (overnight safaris) or in Saariselkä area. In summer they organize fishing trips to Inari lake with a big Faster-boat as well as 1-day and overnight trips with the boat to a wilderness cabin on an island of Inari lake. Nearby the guesthouse they organize berry picking trips and use picked berries when baking Finnish pastries together with the guests. With the help of the co-operators they also offer other programmes such as snowmobile safaris, reindeer farm visits and trips to Inari village.
The guesthouse has three floors with four double rooms and two rooms for 2-4 persons. In all rooms there is an own toilet and shower. Our guests are able to use a small kitchen, internet/WLAN, washing machine and sauna. Breakfast which is included to the price is served in basement´s dining-room. Dinner is available when booked in advance. In dining room guests can also enjoy a nice chat in warmth of a fireplace.
